Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund
(HEERF II & III)
HEERF II (CRRSAA) and HEERF III (ARP) Grants
On December 27, 2020, the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) was authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA). In addition, HEERF III Funds, authorized by both American Rescue Plan (ARP) and CRRSAA, was signed into law on March 11, 2021.
As a result, $76.2 billion was allocated in support of education and was distributed across all educational institutions with both funds. USSA has received $24,608 in HEERF II and will receive $41,244 in HEERF III. Once the ARP funds are received, the United States Sports Academy will have a total of $65,852 in funds from the 2021 CRRSAA act to be shared with our students that have prioritized exceptional need.
The United States Sports Academy signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used the applicable amount of funds provided under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid grants to students.
USSA did not receive HERF Institutional Funding.
Qualifications include:
- Enrolled on or after March 13, 2020 at United States Sports Academy (USSA) which includes:
- Currently enrolled students
- Withdrawn or graduated students (after March 13, 2020)
- U.S. Citizen, eligible Non-citizen, International, Undocumented, DACA
- Enrolled in Degree-seeking, Continuing Education, Non-Degree, and Non-Credit programs
Funds are awarded as follows:
- Pell Grant Recipients (prioritized)
- 20/21 and/or 21/22 FAFSA needed to determine Pell eligibility
Any Remaining HEERF funds will be disbursed to:
- Non-Pell Eligible students
- Eligible for Aid (loans) but not Pell Grant
- Non-Title IV Recipients including Military students
- Students with extenuating circumstances
Need can be assessed with a student statement that indicates extenuating circumstances such as living expenses, food, child care expenses, mental & health care cost, or any other socioeconomic circumstance as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The U.S. Department of Education awarded USSA with a total of $65,852 in HEERF II (CRRSAA) and HEERF III (ARP) Funds. For distribution purposes of these funds, USSA has awarded students based on the highest federally calculated need as a priority. The Pell Grant recipients received 33% of the total $65,852 Funds as of August 18, 2021.

This grant does not affect your Financial Aid eligibility nor replace any Financial Aid you have already received.
Starting May 3, 2021, United States Sports Academy will be issuing this one-time grant to qualifying students. The CRRSAA requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need, including but not limited to Pell Grant recipients. Students can use this grant for any component of the cost of attendance or for emergency costs such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or child care. The total eligible prioritized students are 74 in total.
